Some Principles of Paid to Promote Programs

Some Principles of Paid to Promote Programs
Some Principles of Paid to Promote Programs

By Aaron Ballantyne

In the past couple of years there has sprung up many paid to promote programs on the internet. The basic way these programs work is they offer a certain amount for traffic that is sent to their sites. So what are some of the things you need to know about these programs to be successful? Here are a list of major principles of paid to promote.
1. The programs pay certain amount per 1000 visitors. This is called CPM. If a program offers a 25 cent CPM then that is what they pay for 1000 visitors.
2. Just because you send 1000 visitors don't mean you will get credit for all of them. Paid to promote programs will only credit you for valid visitors. If a visitor is sent to a paid to promote site more than once every 24 hours you don't get credit. In addition visitors are credited based on a tiered country system. Traffic from countries in what the program places as a lower tier will get credited at a lower percentage.
3. To get credited for visitors they need to come from the programs approved advertiser list. Traffic from any other source don't get counted.
4. Paid to promote is a form of arbitrage. That means one buys advertising from a source and tries to recover more than what their cost is. Arbitrage is always risky and not for everyone.
5. Paid to promote is difficult to earn profit from. The fact from number 2 make it difficult for one to make a profit. In order to do that advertising with a CPM less than a third of what the CPM offered by the paid to promote site.
While there are many challenges with the paid to promote model there is still an opportunity for the savvy online entrepreneur. I hope this article has helped those who want to learn more about the topic.

Why Paid to Promote is a Poor Choice For Earning Income Online
Why Paid to Promote is a Poor Choice For Earning Income Online

By Aaron Ballantyne

One method available to people looking to earn extra income online is the various paid to promote programs. For those who haven't yet heard of them they are basically websites that offer to pay people for generating traffic to their advertising pages that they have set up. On the surface it seems like a good idea to try paid to promote. All it takes is an experiment and actually try to profitably generate traffic for those programs that one discovers some major problems. Here are some of the biggest problems in my opinion.
1. They don't pay for all the traffic. Paid to promote programs offer to pay a certain amount for every thousand visitors. The problem is that what you actually get is much lower. One of the reasons for that is they use country tiers for crediting traffic. What that means is visitors generated from certain countries are not credited for the same amount as others. Secondly is a certain percentage of visitors are considered invalid and not counted at all.
2. They restrict where you can advertise. In order to generate traffic you need to advertise your paid to promote link. The problem is each program only credits visitors from their own list of allowed programs. This restricts options for finding cheap advertising. The only way to be profitable at paid to promote is to find advertising which is much lower per thousand visitors than what the program pays.
3. There is no residual income. Paid to promote only generates income so long as you keep advertising. It is not a residual income opportunity which is ideal for most online entrepreneurs.
4. It is time consuming. The amount of time to continuously find advertising and place it as well as monitor results is considerable.
So as you can see the paid to promote model has a lot of problems. My advice for most people would be to find other methods of earning money online as most have more potential.
